Frequently asked questions

I can't sign in, or I forgot my password

Your account is created by your study team or practitioner, so they are the first people to ask - they can check your account and reset your password. If you can't reach them, contact us at the address below and we will help.

How do I pair my Polar or Movesense sensor?

Pairing happens over Bluetooth inside the app. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on, the sensor is charged, and you are wearing it - most sensors only start sending once they touch the skin. Keep the app open while it connects and while a recording is running. If the sensor still doesn't appear, move closer to the phone and try again.

Which permissions does the app ask for, and why?

Bluetooth, to connect to your sensor. Location, including in the background, to add geographic context to your activity and sensor data during the study - it is only requested when your study needs it. Camera and microphone, only for study tasks that use them. Apple Health, to read the data your study needs. You can change any of these at any time in the iOS Settings app, under SSI mHealth.

How is my Apple Health data used?

The app only reads Apple Health data you have allowed, and only for the study you are taking part in. It is shared with your study team for that purpose. It is never sold, and never used for advertising or marketing.

How do I delete my data or my account?

In the app, open Profile, tap Delete account and then Delete my account. Your account is deleted right away and the data linked to it within 30 days; we confirm by email. You can also write to us at the address below from the email linked to your account. Step-by-step instructions, and what we delete and keep: www.selfscience.tech/en/mhealth/delete-account/

Is SSI mHealth a medical device?

No. SSI mHealth is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. If you have concerns about your health, talk to a doctor. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
