Delete your SSI mHealth account

This page explains how to delete your account for SSI mHealth, the app by Self Science Institute ApS. Self Science Institute ApS is the data controller for your account and the data linked to it.

Your account was created by the practitioner or centre that runs your program. You can delete it yourself, in the app or by e-mail.

Option 1: in the app

Open SSI mHealth and make sure you are signed in.
Open Profile.
Tap "Delete account".
Read the message and tap "Delete my account".

The app sends a deletion request to our server with your user ID and e-mail address.

Your account is deleted right away: it can no longer sign in, and your e-mail address, phone number and other personal details are erased. The app signs you out on that phone.

Your Self Science account is the same in every Self Science app, so it is deleted in all of them.

If the app says that your account cannot be deleted from the app, use Account Support in Profile, or Option 2, and our team will delete it for you.

If the request cannot be sent (for example, with no internet), the app says so and nothing changes; try again later. If your sign-in has expired, sign in again and repeat the steps.

Option 2: without the app

Send an e-mail to data-protection@selfscience.tech:

from the e-mail address you use for your SSI mHealth account
with the subject "Delete my SSI mHealth account"

If you cannot write from that address, tell us the e-mail address on the account. We will ask you to confirm the request from that address before we delete anything, so that nobody else can delete your account.

What happens next

In the app, your account is deleted immediately. By e-mail, we delete it once you have confirmed the request.
Anything else linked to your account is deleted within 30 days (see below), and we confirm by e-mail.
Deletion cannot be undone. To use the app again later, your centre has to create a new account for you.

What we delete

Your account and the details stored in it: first and last name, e-mail address, phone number, gender, date of birth, height, weight and password.
Your program data: task answers, voice recordings, photos and videos, sensor recordings, Apple Health or Health Connect values, phone sensor data and location.
Your entry in Find Comrades: other people in your program no longer see you.

What we may keep, and why

Signed consent forms. We keep the forms you signed, and your acceptance of the account terms, for 7 years after you signed, because the law requires us to be able to show that you gave consent.
Your deletion request. We keep a record of the request itself (your user ID, e-mail address and the date) for 7 years, to show that we handled it.
Server logs. Our server's request logs (your phone's IP address and the time of each request) are kept for 30 days, then deleted.
Support messages and feedback. If you wrote to us through Account Support or sent feedback, we keep those messages only as long as needed to handle them.
Backups. Deleted data can remain in backups for up to 30 days, until they are overwritten.
Data on your phone. Account deletion does not remove data stored in the app on your phone, such as settings and recordings that were not uploaded. Uninstall the app to remove them.

Deleting data without deleting your account

To have some or all of your program data deleted but keep your account, write to data-protection@selfscience.tech from the e-mail address linked to your account and say what you want deleted. We answer within one month.

Apple Health or Health Connect: turn off the app's access in the Health app (iPhone and iPad) or in Health Connect (Android). Values already sent stay until you ask us to delete them.
Location: turn off location for SSI mHealth in your phone's settings.
Find Comrades: to stop appearing to other people in your program, write to us.
