Delete your Live Biofeedback account

Option 1: in the app

1. Open Live Biofeedback and make sure you are signed in.
2. Tap the profile button on the home screen.
3. Scroll to Account and tap "Delete account".
4. Read the message and tap "Delete my account".

Your account is deleted right away: it can no longer sign in, and your email address, phone number and other personal details are erased. The app signs you out on that phone.

If the request cannot be sent (for example, with no internet), the app says so and nothing changes; try again later. If your sign-in has expired, sign in again and repeat the steps.

Option 2: without the app

Send an email to data-protection@selfscience.tech:

• from the email address you used for your Live Biofeedback account
• with the subject "Delete my Live Biofeedback account"

If you cannot write from that address, tell us the email address or phone number on the account. We will ask you to confirm the request from that address or number before we delete anything, so that nobody else can delete your account.

What happens next

• In the app, your account is deleted immediately. By email, we delete it once you have confirmed the request.
• Anything else linked to your account is deleted within 30 days (see below).
• Deletion cannot be undone. To use an account again later, create a new one.

What we delete

• Your account and the details stored in it: email address, phone number, date of birth, sex, height, weight and password.
• The links between your account and your sessions. After this, your session data can no longer be connected to you.

What we may keep, and why

• Session data without your name. Sessions are stored under random IDs, not under your account. Once the link to your account is deleted, this data no longer identifies you. Without research consent it is deleted 12 months after the session. If you agreed to research use, we may keep it until the research project ends, at most 10 years. If you want session data deleted too, say so in your email; we need the date, time and place of the session, or its 4-digit code, to find it.
• Consent records. We keep the record that consent was given or withdrawn for 5 years, because the law requires us to be able to show it. These records contain random IDs, not your name.
• Your deletion request. We keep a record of the request itself (your user ID, email address and the date) for 3 years, to show that we handled it.
• Backups. Deleted data can remain in backups for up to 30 days, until they are overwritten.
• Data on your phone. Account deletion does not remove data stored in the app on your phone, such as "My sessions" and compressed copies of your recordings. Uninstall the app to remove them.

Session data without an account

To ask us to delete data from a session you joined without an account, email data-protection@selfscience.tech with the date, time and place of the session, or the 4-digit session code.

During a live session you can also withdraw in the app: open the "…" menu and choose "Withdraw from this session".
